Database Systems Administrator

As a Database Systems Administrator, you’re responsible for the control, integrity, and accessibility of the database manager and its system file structures for use with multiple, concurrent users. You consult on major database design specifications, provide design services, system database tuning, and implement business resumption plans for the database manager.

As a State Farm Database Systems Administrator, you:

  • Install database and database-related software
  • Act as vendor liaison for database software
  • Interact with vendor, operations, and application analysts in problem diagnoses and resolution
  • Develop procedures and guidelines for the use of the database manager
  • Assist in facilitating physical database design reviews
  • Provide database training support
  • Consult on database designs
  • Create, maintain, and tune system database structures
  • Provide system administration as defined by database product
  • Perform research on database features, technologies, and tools
  • Establish database system backup and recovery rules
  • Manage technical implementation challenges
  • Coach and mentor Database Administrators, Business Analysts, and Systems Analysts on more complex problems
